Why Ultherapy Design is Important (The Reason for Treating While Viewing with DeepSEE Ultrasound)
Discover why a customized design and real-time DeepSEE ultrasound imaging are more important than just the shot count for effective Ultherapy lifting results.

During lifting consultations, I often receive this question:
‘Should I just get 300 or 400 shots of Ultherapy?’
However, what matters more in an Ultherapy treatment is the ‘design’ rather than the number of shots.

In particular, unlike other lifting devices, Ultherapy features real-time ultrasound (DeepSEE),
allowing the practitioner to perform the treatment while viewing the internal structure of the skin.
Because every patient has a different
skin thickness,
fat layer thickness,
and SMAS location,
the exact same tips are not used identically for everyone.
Core Features of Ultherapy
The biggest characteristic of Ultherapy is
👉 that the treatment is performed while viewing the skin’s internal structure via real-time ultrasound.
Through the DeepSEE function, we can check the
skin thickness,
fat layer,
and SMAS location.

Therefore, the practitioner can perform the procedure while verifying the exact location where the energy is being delivered.
Choosing the Ultherapy Tip
Ultherapy typically uses
4.5mm,
3.0mm,
and 1.5mm
tips—three types in total.

However, these depths
❗ ‘do not represent absolute layers.’
This is because each patient has a different
skin thickness,
SMAS depth,
and fat layer.
So in actual practice, 👉 we select the tip while verifying the structure with DeepSEE.
For example,
in some patients, the 4.5mm tip may reach the SMAS,
but in others, it might be too deep or too shallow.
Thus, rather than using the tips like a fixed formula,
it is crucial to select them according to the patient’s condition.
Ultherapy Design
Ultherapy is not simply a procedure of firing many shots,
but a treatment designed by considering the lifting direction.

For instance,
double chin and jawline lifting,
jowl lifting,
and nasolabial fold improvement
each require a different focus location and design.
Therefore,
energy depth,
shot placement,
and treatment direction
are all considered in the design.
How is the Number of Shots Determined?
With Ultherapy, more shots do not simply mean better results.
The number is determined by considering the following factors:
1️⃣ Face size
2️⃣ Degree of sagging
3️⃣ Skin thickness
4️⃣ Treatment area
For example,
a jawline-focused lift
versus a cheek-focused lift
will result in a different shot distribution.
The Process of Ultherapy Results
Ultherapy works through:
1️⃣ Creation of thermal coagulation points

2️⃣ Tissue contraction
3️⃣ Collagen regeneration

The lifting effect appears through this process.
Therefore, usually,
👉 the best results are often seen 2 to 3 months later.

Summary
Ultherapy is not a procedure determined merely by
the number of shots
or the tips used.
✔ Checking the skin structure,
✔ Selecting the right tip,
✔ and shot design are what make it important.
In particular, 👉 performing the treatment while verifying the skin’s internal structure with DeepSEE ultrasound
is the greatest feature of Ultherapy.
